BREAKING NEWS FROM SHABLA
10.01.2014
10 January 2014: The first setting of cannon nets this season was a success! Yesterday afternoon the BSPB, WWT and RSPB team working on the LIFE + "Safe Grounds for Redbreasts" project managed to capture 12 Red-breasted and 28 Greater White-fronted Geese near Shabla Lake.
Three of the red-breasted geese and 5 of the White-fronted now wear GPS radio transmitters to track their movements in the area of wintering and establish the impact of hunting and other disturbance factors on these movements. All birds are ringed, while transmitters are put on strong adults only.
Catching attempts will continue in the next days.
