On 19 and 24 April 2013, courtesy of the Regional Education Inspectorates Dobrich and Silistra, the presentation of the second part of the educational guide produced within the LIFE + “Safe Ground for Redbreasts” project took place. The presentation was a part of training sessions of the project education officer with teachers from key project areas. A guest to one of the meetings was Mr. Barry Cooper - the person responsible for the international educational activities of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. The teachers’ impressions of using the first part of the handbook, as well as components of the educational program of the project, were discussed. The meetings ended with exemplary educational games, part of the contents of the handbook and curriculum.

Also in April, about 200 children were introduced to a variety of birds in the wintering sites of the globally threatened Red-breasted Goose, namely the lakes of Shabla, Durankulak and Srebarna, as well as the protected area of Cape Kaliakra. Students from "Dimitar Talev" school – Dobrich,  "Stefan Karadzha" school - Kavarna and "Stefan Karadzha"school in the village of Zhitnitsa visited these places, where with the help of optics and entertaining gamesthey discovered the sites’ values and their importance. The children’s knowledge of the Red-breasted Goose was a very pleasant surprise for their leaders.

Thank you, children, for loving the Red-breasted Goose and your desire to help! Many thanks to your teachers too!
